18. Titles in Motion

Open motion next to garageband on the bottom. Click on template and it gives you a preview. The ones with the black background are particularly good for titles. If you want it to remain black and not become transparent don't put it over footage. If you hit play you can see how the titles will appear. Where it says "title info" you can edit it. You can just click on it and change the text.

Sometimes there are more boxes than you want text in, you go on select mode, click the text boxes and delete them. You can adjust font and colour by clicking "HUD" and thats how you start to customise. You can click on the inspector tab and it opens up all the more detailed options, there are options such as putting an outline, drop shadow rotate or a glow on your text. You want to create a text that suits the mood and genre of your film.

File, open template, text over the top templates and if you scroll down there are more in depth templates. A lot of templates have pre set animation. Try and branch out with your titles and don't use ones used last year. Edit the text in the same way as the first template.

When you finish go to file, export, name it, save it somewhere save (video drive) and export. The file is exported as a movie and can be added to footage on final cut pro. If you want to put the titles over footage, you position the titles under footage so they overlap.
